3 Ways to Participate in National Nutrition Month

March is National Nutrition Month, which is all about trying to eat healthier and recognizing ways to consume and obtain food sustainably. You can do this by eating more whole foods, whole grains, and ethically sourced meats and natural proteins. At Balanced, we’re committed to these values. We take pride in providing fresh options focusing on whole foods and grains. Our cafe welcomes all individuals who want to lead a healthier lifestyle- and we’re here to make it simple!

 

Here are some ways we invite you to participate in National Nutrition Month.

 

Consume More Whole Foods

Sometimes, it’s easier to grab something we can find and eat quickly when we’re on the go or don’t feel like cooking. But most of the time, these aren’t the best options for our health and don’t contain the macronutrients our body needs. Try to switch out sugary drinks and fast food items for a meal with whole foods or whole grains. Remember, it doesn’t have to be a complicated change; you can keep it simple. A small change is better than none at all!

 

Make a Game Plan

If you’re serious about creating lasting habits, take the time to sit down and map it out. If you want to eat healthier, make a plan before you get to the grocery store. Add things to your list like fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and whole grains, and plan some recipes beforehand. 

If you want to work on limiting your carbon footprint, check out your local farmer’s market! This way, you know exactly where your food is coming from, all while supporting your local farmers. Who knows- you might just find something new to try!

 

Share a Healthy Meal With Friends or Family

What better way to participate in healthy habits than sharing them with others? There are many places to find recipes that contain whole food, whole grain, and natural protein ingredients, like Pinterest! Spend time with your loved ones by cooking a recipe everyone can enjoy. Don’t be afraid to try something new!
